Meraki Community Garden
At St Matthew’s Church
We are excited to introduce our new outreach project, the Community Garden at St Matthew's Church. This initiative aims to provide an open space for learning about sustainable growing practices, growing and sharing food, building relationships and developing a sense of belonging. Meraki refers to the creativity, passion and love poured into one's efforts which become visible in the outcomes. Meraki has its foundations in a Biblical mission and promise recorded in the book of Isaiah, Ch.58.10 -11. It reads:
…and if you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then, your light will rise in the darkness. And your night will become like noonday. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
Meraki is an outcome of the outreach programmes of Gold Coast North Anglican Parish, and as members of Gold Coast North Parish, we are committed to the principles of sustainability and to serving the community to which we belong.
